The country of Portugal and especially the region of the Algarve is typically known to be one of the hottest places in Europe! However, what most people don’t realize is that it’s not like this all year round – if you plan to visit any time in between November and March, expect chilly nights and a few wet, rainy days! July and August are typically the hottest months, with temperatures being known to reach a sweltering 40 degrees.
Spring – Spring in the Algarve is classed as being from March until late May. Temperatures are warm and ‘just right’ for lots of people, which is why many tourists choose to visit when the season is just starting to kick off again, without the hustle and bustle of the high summer season.
Summer – Summer in the Algarve is considered to be from June until September. July and August are the two months when most tourists visit the Algarve, due to the long, sunny days and sweltering hot temperatures.

If you’re not a big fan of high temperatures but still want to feel the warmth and comfort of being on holiday, Autumn is the right time for you to visit the Algarve.
Winter – Winter in the Algarve does not get anywhere near as cold as places in Northern Europe, but it is much colder than you’d expect it to be, with tourist levels falling rapidly and many bars and restaurants closing for the winter season, creating a ghost-town-like effect in lots of places.
